In 1972, in Sandrigo, land of ancient artistic ceramics tradition, the couple Vicino Cesare and Pace Rosanna founded the “Union Porcelain”. In those years, the ceramics of Vicenza had a relevant position on both national and foreign markets, and immediately Union reached an important place on them, specially on the Italian and American ones. As from the beginning, the business line was courageous and definite, and for almost twenty years, it concentrate itself on the porcelain flowers production, the “white gold”, more noble and valuable than ceramics, manufactured following the celebrated techniques of the of the centuries-old Neapolitan Capodimonte manufacturers and hand-decorated respecting the old local artistic tradition. In 90’s , following up the beauty of the flowers, Union began the fine biscuit porcelain doll production, hand-decorated, too: this was a winning step, particularly on the Italian and German markets. In 2000, the international hard political and economic trend (circumstances), together with the spread of the low cost articles made in the Far East, badly influenced the Union markets, therefore causing a considerable decrease in both production and export. However, the factory refused to transfer the production lines abroad, indeed , it took up the challenge and, to preserve and carry on its family history, also Alessandro, Daniela and Laura, children of the founders, came into partnership with Union and are at present the only owners. Union succeeded in remaining competitive betting on the quality of its products , raw materials and design, but also bearing a productive investment policy, above all, the acquisition, in 2003, of the “Napoleon” trade mark, which has allowed Union to stand out again among the main manufacturers of its sector. Recently, the continuous experimentation, the competitive policy, the presence at the main fairs of its sector and a new catalogue, increased with exclusive items, has enabled “Napoleon “ to gain new markets, the Soviet and the Middle East ones, and also to keep growing on the European and Italian market. The factory is nowadays the result of a forty year experience, of new research yet based on tradition, of respect for the artisan manufacture together with attention to the new millennium changes. With these credentials, Union keeps on obtaining new markets, with a wide but always renewed range of items, giving birth to an art collection, where each flower is a unique, exclusive and unrepeatable piece to collect. These are the precious ingredients from which the unmistakable Union Porcelain style was born and still remains synonymous with tradition, quality and excellence on the whole world markets.
